Why Local?

Re-localizing our community is maximizing the local, economic and social benefit of the money that is spent in our city while minimizing the impact on the environment. It is about improving quality of life for all of our citizens and balancing our global perspective with a local view.

• $100 spent in a locally owned business generates about $48 worth of local economic activity.
• Long-term big box retail reduces jobs in communities.
• Businesses with local ownership give more money (as a percent of revenue) to local charities.
• Retail expansion is NOT economic growth, it does not increase retail spending, it redistributes it.
